The first weeks of September will be filled with the exciting Mobile Design Challenge ‘Best Scene in Town’ @ Picnic ’10! Students from Amsterdam and New York work together in international teams to create engaging mobile experiences for the Picnic visitor.
What are the design principles behind interactive stories, games and mobile experiences full of interaction with the city, its locations and residents? In what way can people take advantage of the exciting possibilities that online location-aware mobile phones give us?
The challenge brings together the creative forces of Amsterdam and New York based learning institutes with the inspiring platform of the Picnic festival, supported by the mobile expertise and technological innovation from 7scenes. It focuses on upcoming professionals – students – and invites them to work in teams in a ‘pressure-cooker’ setting to come up with groundbreaking concepts. All teams will have the opportunity to prototype hands-on using the 7scenes mobile storytelling platform and have to present their concepts online for judging.
The winning team will then be invited to Picnic to finalize their concept, present it on the Picnic stage and pilot it with the Picnic crowd. The New York students will be flown over to Amsterdam to ensure the end result is a real team effort.
‘Best Scene in Town’ is an ongoing series of challenges that explores the mobile design process and acknowledges that this has become of importance to many different professionals such as architects, game & interaction designers, movies directors, marketers, artists, curators and more.
Registration is open! Sign up by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
